When You Go, They Go
In the event of an emergency evacuation from your town or city, remember to take your animals with you.
- Have a list of pet-friendly hotels and motels or click here
- Prepare a list of boarding facilities and veterinarians who could shelter animals in an emergency; including 24-hour phone numbers.
- Prepare a disaster kit. There are some ideas on the Massachusetts government website here
- If you do not have any transportation and you need to find an emergency shelter then click here to find the director of emergency services is in your town/city. These are the folks who will be coordinating evacuation efforts.
But remember, in the event of such an emergency it may be hard to get through to any emergency number so being prepared ahead of time is critical.
