Who are the volunteers?
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Our efforts continue to succeed and to grow due to the hard work put forth by the many caring individuals who donate their time, energy and love to the hundreds of cats we help each year.
We need people to help with the following:
- Feeding out at the feral colonies. It takes about 20 minutes of your time. You can volunteer for one or more days a week.
- Fostering our cats and kittens while they wait to find their forever homes. We have different situations for fostering as follows:
- Short term, the friendly kittens and cats that will go quickly, because most people want to adopt them first.
- Long Term, for the more difficult cats and kittens that may be more afraid and need more time to trust us or:
- Cats and kittens with special needs because we have to find the right homes where people are not afraid to take them and love them even though they have issues.
- Tasha’s Place. It’s not a shelter. It’s a special foster home where we have cats that have ended up with us and may be too scared to be adopted yet. What they need is more time to become more acclimated before they can go to a foster home and then to adoption. We need volunteers to come and help care for them and play with them or brush them. We also need volunteers to help with laundry and cleaning in this home.
- Drivers to drop off and pick up kitties from the area veterinarian offices, or pick up food and get it to some of our larger foster homes or colony feeders.
- Database experts to help us track all our work so that we can apply for grants.
- Grant writers to take all the information and do the applications.
- Website people to help us maintain this and our Petfinder website.

Special Volunteer Positions Need to Be Filled
Carpenter / Handyman
Our warm houses and feeding stations are in need of repair or replacement. If you can help maintain our structures, or build new ones, we need your help immediately.

We need a person to provide transportation for cats during the day for vet appointments. You would need to be available during the week during the day. You may be required to help another volunteer to physically "catch" cats in their foster locations and drive them to our veterinarian, help out with the exam (stay in exam room to record information as visit progresses) and then transport them back to their foster location.

Unique Volunteer Position has Urgent Need
We are in desperate need of volunteer help at our major foster home. The need is for cleaning (kitty stuff!) seven days a week, two hours a day between approximately 10:00 to 12:00 a.m.
Can you donate two hours of your time once a week or even once a month?
Our foster mom is getting along in years, has a bad back and sore feet! Won't you help her? She would be eternally grateful and so would the kitties and cats
There's a plus to this volunteering too, and that is you could spend time socializing with the cats, which is very rewarding.
Please fill out this questionnaire to volunteer. Please enter "Foster Home Cleaning" in the "If Other, please describe" box. Thank you for considering volunteering for this unique opportunity.

Become A Foster Parent
We have added an application form for volunteers to become foster parents with The Cat Connection.
We are thankful for all of our volunteers, but because of logistical reasons, we have to ask that you live within a 15 mile radius of Waltham to participate in our fostering program, at this time. Thank you
Please note that a lot of the cats in our foster care system require a lot of time and attention.
